Plan siding and windows as adjoining parts
A window installation changes an opening in the wall, so discuss how flashing, the weather barrier and exterior trim will connect to existing or replacement siding. Confirm whether the quote covers a replacement insert or a full-frame installation. Match exact product specifications when comparing estimates.
For energy performance, consider the home’s air leakage, insulation, shading and heating and cooling use as well as the selected windows. A new exterior finish does not guarantee a particular bill reduction.
If solar is part of the plan, coordinate it separately
Discuss roof condition and remaining serviceability with a qualified roofing professional before adding solar equipment. Ask the solar provider about structural assessment, electrical work, permits, attachment details and responsibility for roof penetrations. If a future roof replacement would require removing equipment, establish who handles that work and the associated costs.
